After over five years away from the track Candace is competing for Albany State University. In her first year back she is the 2008 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference 400 Meters Hurdle Champ winning in a personal best of 1:04.47. If you know her story this will be a tremendous testimony when this is over.
HIGH SCHOOL
Currently a Freshman at North Clayton High School she is completing her first year as a Varsity Cheerleader. She will begin her high school track career after two very successful middle school seasons. She led Riverdale Middle School to the 2000 Clayton County Middle School Girls Track and Field Championships by achoring the first place finishing 4X100 and 4X400 Relay Teams. She also finish 3rd in the 400 Meters, was 5th in the 200 Meters, and was third in the long jump. For her efforts she was voted Most Valuable Runner for the 2000 season. She was Clayton County Middle School champion in the 800 meters (2:35) in 1999 as a seventh grader.
NORTH CLAYTON ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION
Was a cheerleader at North Clayton Athletic Association from 1992 through 1999 competing on squads that won numerous awards for league and post season out-of-town competitions. Served as a volunteer trainer for the 9 and 10 year squad in the 2000 season for the association.
SUMMER TRACK
Member of Quicksilver Track Club (QTC) since 1994. She has qualified for the USA Track and Field Nationals in Bantam Girls in 1996 as a member of the QTC 4X400 Relay team , in Midget Girls in 1998 as member of the member of the 4X400 Relay Team, in Youth Girls in 1999 as member of the 4X400 and 4X800 relay teams, and in 2000 in the 200 meter hurdles (finished third at Region with a time of 29.5) and as a member of the 4X400 and 4X800 Relay teams. In 1998 her Midget Girls team finished 7th at Nationals in Seattle, WA (shown in photo below on far left).
